Our Gardens

Briscos' Best Blooms is an AHS (American Hemerocalllis Society) registered daylily garden owned and nurtured by Sue and Fred Brisco. Our home is situated on two-thirds of an acre in Ellicott City, Maryland. Nestled within the ten uniquely formed gardens are slightly over 1300 different daylily cultivars representing all of the established categories of the AHS. Our expansive collections of Bitones and Bicolors numbers in excess of 150. As an AHS display garden we have entertained hundreds of visitors, usually in small groups, but our neighbors never miss the opportunity of photographing a bus parked in front of the house. Our garden, featured on NBC4.com with photos and an article entitled "Daylilies.....The Glorified Weeds", as well as in Fanfare (the Regional Publication of the AHS), has provided enjoyment to neighbors and visitors alike. Neither of us are pollen dabblers, so when visiting you will view only registered cultivars. In addition to our daylily collection you will have the opportunity to enjoy over 100 different varieties of Hosta. We have both served as officers for the Free State Daylily Society, the impetus behind the establishment of our display garden.
We will enjoy having you visit, but please call or e-mail to make an appointment. After your initial visit, which will include information about the gardens' layout, you are welcome to return without an appointment. Sue teaches so is usually readily available during the period of peak bloom which is normally (depending on "mother nature") the first two weeks in July during which we are open seven days a week. For those wishing to succumb to impulse buying, we have a sale garden where cultivars may be dug for you to take home. The varieties and pertinent information are listed if you open the sale garden listed in the menu.
